Pianist John Pivarnik will accompany bass Jason Adamo and Theresa Carlomagno in an hour of classical duets.

John Pivarnik

John Pivarnik, pianist, is organist/choirmaster at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Essex Fells and also works as a freelance instrumental and vocal accompanist and performs solo recitals frequently in the metropolitan area.

Mr. Pivarnik did his undergraduate studies at Susquehanna University majoring in piano performance. His piano teachers there were Galen Deibler and Philip Clarke. He studied organ at Susquehanna with James Boeringer. As a Rotary Exchange student in high school he studied in Haderslev, Denmark, studying organ with Paul Aagaard Pedersen.  He pursued graduate piano study with Maryan Filar at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and studied Lied-Begleitung and piano with Gunter Ludwig at Cologne Musik Hochschule in Cologne, Germany and serving as organist in Cologne-Marienburg. In the summer 2005 he studied for two weeks at the Franz Liszt Piano Academy in Sopron, Hungary with Dr. William Wellborn and Prof. Adam Wibrowski.

He is currently a student of Susan Starr. John Pivarnik teaches piano privately at his home studio in Madison, NJ and at Christ Church in Short Hills and performs frequently with the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey and Opera at Florham. He has performed at Grace Church, Madison for the annual Baroque Music Festivals.

Mr. Pivarnik has served most recently as organist/choirmaster at Christ Church in Short Hills, NJ and has supplied as substitute organist throughout the metropolitan area.

Jason Adamo 

Jason Adamo is a bass-baritone who has performed a wide variety of repertoire by composers from Mozart to Puccini. A specialist in Italian opera, he has performed frequently with Eastern Opera of New Jersey and with the Baroque Opera of New Jersey (conducted by Dr. Robert Butts), having sung Marcello in La Bohème, Silvio in I Pagliacci, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Bonze and Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore, the Speaker, First Priest and Second Armored Man in The Magic Flute, and the title roles of Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro, and in 2018 he sang in the world premiere of Dr. Butts’ new opera, Auld Lang Syne. In New York City, Jason has sung Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri and the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro with New York Opera Forum as well as Marcello in La Bohème with Amore Opera. Other roles include Father in Hansel and Gretel, the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro, Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri, and Schaunard in La Bohème.

Theresa Carlomagno

Theresa Carlomagno, a lyric soprano, studies under the direction of Sondra Kelly. A two-time governor’s award recipient, she has performed at at Merkin Hall’s Kaufmann Center. Theresa was a member of the Met Opera Intensive Guild, one out of only 10 individuals across the US and Canada invited to participate. She has affiliation with the New Jersey Opera Company and well as the Baroque Orchestra of NJ where she most recently did a production of Die Fledermaus and “The Elixir of Love” as Adina. She is also a cantor at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in New York.
